1959 Series II LHD NADA 88" SWB Hard Top

This is one of the most original and classic Land Rovers we have come across. It was hiding in upstate New York, and the owner, who had kept it in good running order for use at his summer home, called us and asked us if we were interested in it. We said we were, and expected a heap of junk when it arrived, based on his characterization of it. Boy, were we pleasantly surprised! What appeared on our doorstep was a lovely litte Rover, that most of its original paint. It started on the first try with fresh fuel, a fresh battery and tune up. The body work was just about perfect, and the chassis was very solid. Everything was completely as it should be, with the exception of the headlamp switch. It even had a copy of the Atlantic British catalog from 1977, with a sheaf of correspondence between the original owner and the founder of AB. (funny stuff!).

We did some minor things, like replace the fuel pump, change the oil, and adjust a few things, but the mechanic in New York who was in charge of keeping it in good order had done his job well, including five new tires.

After we treated it to a fresh coat of paint in Limestone and Marine Blue, is a true joy to drive- the steering is wonderfully light, and it is quite peppy. We even fitted it with a Fairey Overdrive, for a little more top end.
