We
are offering a 1980 STAGE ONE V8, 3.5, RHD, 5 door Station Wagon... it
is blue with black vinyl interior. Superb, straight panels, never
abused. Very good condition, very original, runs perfectly - it is
very fast, with great pickup and the braking system is also superb. It
is more like a Defender in this respect and is a very useable daily
vehicle, the only reason the previous owner sold it was the cost of
fuel in the U.K. (!) It has the standard Rover 3.5 V8 engine (replaced
at 40K with a new factory engine under warranty), a LT95 four speed
box (as fitted to early Range Rovers), SU carbs and uprated brakes.
This was the Rover that was produced in Solihull before the Defender,
and during the production of the normal Series III, to see how the V8
engine and the center differential would work out in the field - (yes,
this Rover has full time 4WD, much like the Range Rover of the time).
When you went into the Main Dealer to buy a Series III LWB, you could
get either a standard III with a six or a four, or upgrade to to what
was referred to as the ''Series III V8''. However, VERY few Stage Ones
were produced, and even fewer were produced as Station Wagons (at
least for the UK market) This series shares most of its parts with
every other Land Rover model, i.e it has standard Salisbury axles,
usual Series III stuff in the dash, etc. Actually, this could be
considered an amalgam of a Range Rover and a Series III! Own a rare
piece of history! Email us at rovers@skytoprover.com
if you are interested in this vehicle. Or call us at PRICE:
