1974 Left Hand Drive Range Rover 2-Door

Back in 1987, when the Range Rover made its appearance in the U.S., many people, myself included, thought: cool, a new four wheel drive! It was an amazing vehicle, with simple, elegant styling, and while it was one of the most overbuilt, rugged vehicles on the road, it was still comfortable and smooth enough to prop your coffee cup on the dash in the morning. Only much later did I realize that a lot of what one knows depends on historical perspective: The Range Rover has been in production since 1970.

This is a 1974 Left Hand Drive Range Rover 2-Door: The stock engine would have been a carburetted 3.5 liter V-8, this Rover has been professionally fitted with a Rover 3.9 Efi V-8 , and a five-speed gearbox. This is the engine and gearbox found in later Range Rovers as well as the U.S. spec Defenders. A well maintained vehicle, it starts and runs perfectly, aided by the power assist steering. Four wheel disc brakes, coupled with a new power brake servo, and new Bilstein shocks in the front. Has original equipment wrap-around brush bar, welded front diff guard, and full rear gas tank protection. Also has an am/fm cassette stereo, and later style (U.K. spec) Discovery wheels. Fitted with a tow package.

The two-door variant is rare in the U.S., four door automatics were the only models imported for the American market. This Range Rover has also been fitted with later Discovery front seats, which are high backed and a bit more stylish, and U.K.-spec Discovery wheels. The rear forward facing bench seat folds up for more cargo room, and can even be removed if nescessary.

Excellent chassis and bodywork, unabused interior, and tight suspension components, this Range Rover would be perfect as a daily vehicle, and/or for towing campers or trailers.

We will be acquiring good examples of these early Range Rovers, so check back periodically and see what we have.
