Left Hand Drive 12 Volt Forward Control 101"
This
is one of the nicest Forward Control 101s in the US. It was released
from the Ministry of Defense about four years ago, and was slated
to spend its days in South America, ferrying American tourists through
the jungle. Luckily, it never made it down there; instead it is in
Philadelphia, PA, where it is used by us for deliveries and picking
up large things from Home Depot.
It is in excellent condition, with 14,000 original
kilometers, which translates into 8750 miles. It is completely original,
with a rebuilt 3.5 liter V-8 Rover engine, four speed box with full
time four wheel drive, high and low range transfer box, and 9.00 metric
tires in very good condition. The bodywork is in very good shape,
and there is no rot on the chassis or bulkhead.
All of the electrics work correctly, and the clutch and gearbox are
perfect.
It starts right up, and is very peppy. The feel when driving the FC101
is very different than a standard Series Rover, as you are sitting
over the front axle, and the sensation when driving over bumps is
of going straight up. The turning circle is also very small, so it
is remarkably manuverable. The Forward Control also has a very large
towing capacity, as it was originally designed to pull the Rapier
Missle System. It almost goes without saying that it is the most efficient
and adept off-road Rover ever produced.
