Everything has arrived, and I've been driving
around enjoying all the funny looks from people. I am very happy
with the Rover. Any info you could please send my way about
getting all those many layers of paint off would be helpful.
Be assured that I'll be in touch for parts and advice on getting
the Rover into Top Shape. Many thanks for all your work and
patience during the sale. I have no qualms about being a reference
for your outstanding company

follow up
went wheelin last night, and have to tell ya
that it was a blast. Only beginning to see what the truck can
do. but, I did discover that if you try to climb a rock face
that is too steep, the tires start to smoke.

I spent considerable time looking for a "classic"
off-road vehicle, one where the dog sits on the seats and no
one worries over mud in or out of the truck. Being more familiar
with the American offerings, I researched and invested time
looking for several pre '77 Bronco's and International Scouts.
The bittersweet reality is these vehicles were utilized as intended
and most had severe integrity problems. Rust had destroyed the
body panels, florr boards, rocker panels, and quite frequently
the body mounts themselves. My hopes of finding a second utility
vehicle for tops off summer fun and year round-off-roading,
seemed destined to start off with either a high initial investment,
or several years in a garage. Then out of the blue I rediscovered
the Series Land Rover.
Working in Baltimore and driving back from a customer visit,
I passed an import yard containing approximately 30 camouflaged
Land Rovers. Intriqued with these utilitarian vehicles, I called
the phone number pasted on the window, which turned out to be
Gabor at Skytop. He was happy to answer my questions and demonstrate
the models and their characteristics. He took time to listen
to what I was looking for and showed me 2 or 3 vehicles in different
price ranges that would accommodate my needs. After I selected
one, we put dealer plates and went out for a spin around Philadelphia,
where Gabor provided a working and teaching demonstration of
the Series Land Rover. I wanted a few days to think about the
decision, Gabor applied no pressure, offered his cell phone
number and said to give him a call with any questions.
Deciding to take the plunge I contacted Gabor to make final
arrangements. Gabor was upfront about all aspects of the arrangement
and a pleasure to deal with throughout the transaction. I let
him know that I would be driving the vehicle home and it was
prepped and waiting when I arrived. I have now owned "Monique",
Skytop gives the vehicles names to differenrtiate them in the
yard, for almost a year and it has been a blast. Skytop has
given technical assistance and offered help find parts and aftermarket
products. I know these guys enjoy what they do and their customer
service is outstanding. If you are looking for a Series vehicle
this is the only place to go.
Cheers

Hi Gabor,
Just wanted to drop you a note to let you know my little lightweight
is a gas and I love it.
I went to the DMV with it the other day and the Vehicle Inspector's
mouth dropped open. all he could say was "Toooooo Coool!!!
After a lengthy chat I drove off without the hassle of inspection.
This is the same inspector that I use for checking out the old
British Motorcycles, same reaction, same result.
Later, one of my customers came into the store with her Grandmother
from Leeds, driving her Jag(had her personal car shipped over
here to drive while she visited), insisted on a complete inspection
of the vehicle saying it brought back memories of the old days
working for RAF. She is an interesting lady and swears she wont
drive anything that wasn't built "Correct." I quess
we Colonials just can't get the steering wheel on the "right"
side of the car. Her explanation for all the accidents we have
over here.
In any case, I wanted you to know that my little truck is working
out very well.
I would be happy to have you use me as a reference for future
sales and look forward to workng with you on the diesel project.
Thanks Again, Best of luck with your new shop,
Take Care, Cheers!

Hey Gabor,
Just dropping you a note to let you know that the little Air
Portable Lightweight is doing great!
I am very happy with the truck and use it daily to run from
the house to the Paddocks to feed my horses, taking the occasional
run through town to confuse the local's.
Since it's purchase I have done some detail work including a
fire system, powder coating of the battery box and interior
bits and had a friend who makes custom motorcycle seats, restore
the interior. He is also working on a Bikini Top for the summer
when we go to the beach.
I can't tell you how much I love this little vehicle. Suffice
it to say that of all the automobiles and trucks that I own,
it is my favorite. This includes my Corvette, my Dodge Ram 3500,
Ford F 350 and 1999 Lightning.
In any case I am looking to get another and would like you to
look into a Series 1, 2 or 3 for me.
Please let me know when you have something in mind and we'll
talk.
Best wishes to you and the rest of the team and keep up the
good work!
Take Care, We'll Talk Soon, CHEERS!

Dear Gabor,
I am writing this letter as a testimonial to the quality of
your military Rovers. As you know, I bought "Claudette,"
as you named her, sight unseen and when she arrived she far
exceeded my expectations. She is the best vintage British vehicle
ever owned(not to mention I have 14 other British vehicles at
the present time.)
Claudette also attracts a lot of attention being the only camouflaged
military 109 in Berkshire County. She is also quite often the
topic of conversation at our car club meetings.
I also wanted to extend my thanks to you and your establishment.
You are a pleasure to deal with. When I call I am treated like
we have known each other for years.
I want you to know that I am extremely happy and satisfied with
my purchase. Please feel free to use my name as a reference.
Thanks again,
Ralph V. Blanchard, Jr. DDS

The best maintained Land Rovers were the former military ones
(ex-Ministry of Defense) and Gabor at Skytop Rovers brings a few
in every couple of months. You can't go wrong there, and you'll
save yourself a plane ticket, rental car and hotel to boot. I
have been to his lot and it's worth seeing for yourself! - Maj.

I have recently purchased an exMOD Series III 109 from Gabor and

This is Don Warner and his son-in-law Matt (below right), about
to drive off in their 109". Both of them have become true
Rover enthusiasts since their purchase, and are our best (and
most helpful) customers. Look for the Rover in CT and Long Island.
Thanks, guys!
